Florida Parawaiting

Currently in Florida at the Florida Ridge competition, waiting for the rain to stop, watching Terry B. parawaiting. Terry's prediction is it's going to be great tomorrow and the rest of the week. Slight chance for tonight. Handgliders flew yesterday in stiff winds. A little too stiff for paragliding.

Back Home

Back in the US now, where it is very cold. I left the bed and breakfast in the capable hands of Nancy and Leo, who are going to keep the B and B open through the low season. You will find them very accommodating. Had a great season and looking forward to flying with some of you next year.

Raffa's Best Flight Yet

Thursday at Revas launch, Raffa had the best flight yet of her young flying career. Even though being twisted three times by a few weeds on her launch, she was able to calmly untwist herself. Follow instructions she was able to get into her first thermaling experience. Starting at 300 feet below launch because of the twist she was able to catch a beautiful thermal and work her way up to 1,000 feet over. Needless to say she had a smile on her face until the following day when we had to depart and leave her home in Revas.

Danny, her husband, flew almost as high but he had the benefit of an uneventful launch. Danny's flight was also his highest flight to date.

Here is a photo taken by one of the locals of Spencer kiting on the beach in Caldera.
We were able to get Spencer flying after two days of kiting. His last flight was a 30 minutes, 800 0ver - great flight.

Spencers Note

Spencer sent this note to the webmaster upon his return home from Grampa Ninja's.

Hi Giulia,
My visit to CR was a huge thrill and, needless to say, Fred did everything he could to make it that way.
Here are 2 pics of Fred pensively watching the wind conditions, 3/15/2010. Thanks for the video link. I'm trying to get my short clips into the PC.
One happy camper,
Spencer

Flying San Miguel

Had a great flight yesterday at San Miguel. Straight up to about 1,000 over and flew to my house.
Landed in the back yard and all my neighborhood kids came out to help me.

Man is it cold here in New Jersey

Only 4 more days. Came home to a snow storm that dumped 12 inches of snow... Would much rather be flying a paraglider than riding a snow blower.

Paragliding Season 2010

So far this year the flying this year has been fabulous. We have had one bad weather day. Going into March the weather should be more consistent. I am in the States until March 5th and then in Costa Rica until April 16. Come on down.
